John C. Bouck

Born in Calgary Alberta on 9 May 1931. Graduated from the University of British Columbia Law School in 1955. Practiced law in Vancouver B.C. until appointed a trial judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia at Vancouver B.C. in February 1974. Sat as a trial judge in Vancouver until 1996. Moved to Victoria that year and retired from the court in May 2006. Married to Shirley. Three children and seven grandchildren.

Initiator and co-author of the following four books until 2006:

  • Canadian Criminal Jury Instructions (CRIMJI): 1988 - ;
  • Civil Jury Instructions (CIVJI): 1989 - ;
  • British Columbia Annual Practice (The White Book):1988 - ;
  • British Columbia Annual Criminal Practice. (BCACP):1997 -

They have been and still are revised annually following their initial publications. Also the author of more than 130 published and unpublished articles on various legal subjects.

Published a book in November 2006 titled "Exploding the Myths: An insider's look at Canada’s justice systems." Publisher: Juriliber.com.

Former R.C.A.F. jet fighter pilot and civilian pilot. Hobbies include: golf, badminton, squash. Presently living in Victoria B.C.
